Questions are so powerful because they can make us feel all kinds of emotions. Some questions can make us feel excited and proud, and others can make us feel scared and judged. Learning to ask your child the right question that sparks joy and interest is a fantastic skill that each parent has to learn.

Asking the right questions will make you rock as a leader and as a parent

It can be hard to understand what’s going on in our kids’ minds. We ask questions like, how did your day go? But they look at us and nod or say a one-word answer; good/wrong.

Tips for asking your kids the right questions?

• Ask open-ended questions rather than yes and no questions. It allows them to tell the story and communicate better.
• Listen and affirm their emotions. You don’t need to be giving advice.
• Understand the emotion behind it
• Ask more caring questions to understand more how your child felt when the incident happened.
• Validate their feelings by saying things “I can see how frustrated you were/are”

Would you rather questions are short but extremely fun.
Let your child come up with their own “would you rather” questions.

Your child will not always be open to answering questions.
