Facts bout me showing me and Ahmed hugging in Hamburg

Since I started this blog I didn’t get the time to talk to you about me. That’s why I thought of sharing some facts about me.

So I thought it would be a great idea to tell you somethings that you might wanna know so that we can get to know each other better

Growing up

I was born on the 20th of December 1984 in Cairo, Egypt. My two younger brothers are my best friends. and I have the most loving and nurturing parents anyone could wish for. I went to an English school in Egypt and I studied IGCSE in high school.

Athletic Life

I started playing Synchronized swimming at the age of 5 years old and became a professional synchronized swimmer until the age of 19.

I played for the Egyptian National Team of Synchronized swimming since I was 14 until is stopped playing, participating in a lot of national and international competitions including the Fina Synchronized swimming World Cup in Zurich in 2002.

My entire childhood memories were based on this sport which I loved. It shaped so much of my personality and taught me creativity, determination, and team spirit. Most of my best friends to this day were my partners in the team.

Higher Education

As a graduate from high school, I had no idea as to what I wanted to do for a job. All I knew is that I wanted to do something that is creative because for me; a life without creativity and color is not a life worth living. So I thought I’ll go to art school. But my dad was convinced that art school won’t get me a proper job and that the future was in information technology.

I respected my father so much. He was and still is my role model and he told me that Computer science has a graphics major. So I thought ok then. What a great idea then, I’ll study programming and graphics. Little did I know at that time that the graphics in Computer science had nothing to do with art. I thought it was motion graphics 🙈.

Yeah! I know “What a mistake, right” but to tell you the truth, it wasn’t that bad. I was good at programming and coding and I really enjoyed it and I never was a quitter. I’m the person who is always challenged to finish what I start. So I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

and you know what? I never worked in programming (The four years of college were enough for me). So I taught my self-graphic design and I worked as a graphic designer for 7 years. I got certified as a graphic designer with a focus on branding and marketing.

Work-Life

For the last 14 years, I’ve worked in nearly everything. Let’s say I’m the person who tried everything until I finally found what I’m really passionate about. I worked as a nursery teacher, Graphic designer, Marketing director, TV producer (Yeah I know!, and no I don’t know how that happened, it was pure luck I guess). I worked as a cognitive therapist and an interior designer as well. And now I’m finally at a place where I finally know what to do in my life ha ha ha… Finally “Whew!”

Well deep inside me I always knew, but I always kept procrastinating it, thinking that I’m not good enough. I always had a fear of putting myself out there. but after all the turbulence I’ve seen in my life; I now can “do it scared ” as Ruth Soukop says.

Raising kids and creating a place that feels like home for my family has always been my passion. It’s where I feel the most creative and that’s why I thought “why not make a Job out of what I’m passionate about.”

So I got certified in Interior design and I’m on my way to earning my certification as a parent coach. I really hope you share with me this journey of making my dream a reality.

Marriage and Travel

I was so lucky to have married Ahmed. If you believe that each person has another half, then I have found mine and I have married him. God blessed us with 3 beautiful, charming, kindhearted girls who we really believe are our sunshine.

Ahmed is a Surgeon and one year after “Rokaya” my oldest daughter was born, He got a Job in Germany and we moved to Germany. We learned German there and everything was going “as planned” until the day that Ahmed got injured in a football game he was playing and he underwent two surgeries, which made him not able to operate.

So we took our things and moved back to Egypt… Egypt was a rollercoaster hence the “TV Producer Job” but it was such a great time to spend with our families who we have missed during our stay in Germany…

But the thing is Ahmed is a great Doctor, He’s the kind of Doctor who really cares about his patients. and he loved surgery and operating and he wanted to continue his journey as a doctor. So he trained so hard to try to get back into shape and finally after 3 years he stopped feeling the pain in his legs that he thought it was time to go back and continue working as a surgeon.

So he applied for Jobs and he got the job that he wanted and here we are again we moved back to Germany with our three girls in July. and we’re starting all over again.

The End

We are full of hope and we are grateful for all the opportunities God gave us and we are ready to seize opportunities and create the life we love as long as we are together as a family.

I guess now you know nearly some of the facts about me and about my humble family. I hope it has inspired you in a way to always fight for what you want and never give up on your dreams.

If you want to know me better and know things I can’t live without please check that post.

love, Ola
